An accessible walk from the Breakwater beach car park with disabled parking, along past the RNLI station to the entrance to the Breakwater path. On the left side there is a very large slipway, which was originally built during WW2 for the D day landings. There is a notice board at the entrance of the Breakwater with the history of the harbour.
The whole walk/wheel is 1 mile, The Breakwater is half mile long, with lovely views & fresh sea air. There’s a slope up to the Breakwater ( it’s a short steep slope which I managed in my Q100 power chair. The path takes you along the edge of the marina, and out to the Brixham harbour lighthouse. Beautiful views of the marina & harbour, the coast line from Berryhead across the bay over to Paignton & Torquay.
There’s a chance you could see dolphins & seals. There’s always a sea breeze so wrap up warm as it’s always cooler than the temperature on land. You can get hot drinks from the Breakwater coffee shop which is at the edge of the car park.
From Oxen Cove car park Brixham around to the other side of the harbour towards breakwater beach car park.
1 mile from 1 car park to the other & takes around 20 mins without stopping. All wheelchair accessible & flat concrete or tarmac path. Dropped curbs at road crossing points. Cafes, restaurants/pubs, fish & chips, & small shops are found lining the harbour.
There’s the RNLI lifeboat station & shop, always good for gifts.
Very picturesque walk, with lovely views of the boats & painted houses.
If you are lucky you might see dolphins & seals sheltering in the harbour.
Lots of small statues to discover & beautiful small landscaped gardens by the boat yard.
There’s lots of benches along the route, & places to stop off for food & drink. Disabled toilets are where the boat trip boats moor on the New Pier just along from the Rock Fish restaurant. Changing place disabled toilet with hoist in the Central car park next to the bus station. Which is about 3 minutes up Middle Road.
Brixham harbour is such a beautiful place, & a lovely relaxing walk/wheel. It’s very interesting seeing both leisure & working fishing boats.
